October has finally arrived, which means trick-or-treat night is right around the corner. Now is the time to get the kids geared up and ready to hit the streets in the never-ending quest for candy! Candy and costumes are just two parts of the spooky holiday. While Halloween should be fun for all, safety is still a top priority for most parents. Here are some excellent Halloween safety tips from us here at South Bay Toyota.
- Drivers – Those planning to be on the road during Halloween would do well to make themselves as visible as possible. For most, that means keeping their headlights on at all times and driving at low speeds through neighborhoods. Put an end to distractions by storing your smartphone and other devices out of sight. Turn off the radio when in areas with trick-or-treaters running around.
- Costumes – Parents should ensure that their child’s costume fits well and that can easily maneuver in it. Avoid using masks if possible as they can obstruct a child’s view. Use face paint or makeup whenever possible. Attach a glow stick to the costume to make your child easier to spot.
- Supervision – Children under the age of 12 should have an adult supervisor at all times. Those older than 13 years of age should stay in well-lit areas that they’re familiar with.
